Much Addo about Elephants

Last weekend we went with the four of us, belgian volunteers, to the Addo Elephant Park.
It is the third biggest national park of South Africa, a four hours drive away, and (as you might have guessed) famous for its elephants. The original Elephant section of the park was proclaimed in 1931, when only eleven elephants remained in the area - today over 450 elephants, Cape buffalo, black rhino, a variety of antelope species, as well as the unique flightless dung beetle, found almost exclusively in Addo (though since you look for it in the dung, we didn't check).

See how close they get? So used to the cars and the non existing threats, elephants just wander in between, so close sometimes we could have leaned out and touched them.

But just as cute as these gray titans, are the monkeys and the suricates (famous from the Lion King -stokstaartjes)...

Now, to see if you have been paying close attention, a little test: can you tell which animals are represent by these highley skilled impersonators?

See you till my next post....
