Plettenberg Bay

Since yesterday arrivede in Plettenberg Bay, on the coast, where we'll be stationned for the next five months. Great looking seaside town, doesn't feel as much as africa than as australia, but still 5 big townships around it.
Met kristien, the belgian responsable for this project, and went out for drinks with some other volunteers. Nice to already feel welcome. Our appartment is great, really spacious, with our own bathroom and everything. Only a pity we don't have internet there, but we'll work on that.
This morning we went to visit de sterrenweg, the project with disabled children where Thomas will be volunteering. More news will follow.

Cape Town

Spent four days in Cape Town, with a Couch surfer in the suburbs. Climbed table mountain,
visited the botanical gardens, went out with eugene (one of our roommates in Plettenberg Bay who was visiting the Cape) and saw Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was kept prisonner, impressive... thought of leavingh thomas there but no such luck, only black people ;-)

Paris, la ville de lumiere

Passe trois jours a Paris, pas grande chose de visite touristiques, mais superchouette de revoir des amis. L'Europe est quand meme petit!

Another birthday, another departure!

Wednesday 13th, just another day for you, another year for me added....29 but life is on track. Thomas surprised me with a little Boudhist hostel in the Ardennes, where we ate kangourou and slept in a trailer.

But most of the week was devoted to preparing our departure for South Africa this Saturday.

Haiti Movies - Ghosts Of Cite Soleil Movie Trailer

Yesterday we went to see the European Premiere of this movie in Leuven. It was plunge back into my first days in Haiti, around February 2004, when revolt and protest led the President Aristide to leave. Though i don't agree with the only partial view that they give of Haiti, focussed on the slum of City Soleil and its violence, and it is no innocent political (pro american sometimes it seems) message behind it, it was still strong enough to take me back to those times... Intense Haiti...
